COMMITTEE UPDATES

There were no committee reports or updates.

SUMMIT – JUNE 6-7, GENERAL BUTLER SRP

Chair pointed out that we needed a title for keynoter, Sue Polanka’s presentation on e-books soon.  Also, Georgetown College is hosting an e-book conference on June 7 and 8, thus dovetailing with our Summit on June 6 – 7.  Naulayne stressed that the Executive Committee encourage our Summit audience to make the effort to attend the GC conference or a portion thereof.

Adam Murray detailed his suggestions for facilitating the breakout sessions:

  • ·         Involve the librarians who will be attending the Summit on June 6;
  • ·         Invite them to form groups and come up with topics for discussion;
  • ·         This will get more librarians involved in FoKAL;
  • ·         Hold a workshop or breakout session after keynoter;
  • ·         Adam – mentioned his wife’s “Call to Action” or “Challenge” methods to encourage group decision-making and follow-up -- each group to devise a plan for action;
  • ·         Adam to post a call to action form on FoKAL wiki before EC’s next conference call;

Adam also offered to introduce our summit keynoter (Sue Polanka) as he’s been a strong advocate on his campus for transitioning to e-books;

Library Discount Network

No report or update – Anne Abate was attending the Charleston, SC [library] Conference.

OTHER

Naulayne:  remarks on checking account –

  • ·         Currently have $2,300 in an escrow account for database deals;
  • ·         Exercise caution on checking account and interest earnings;
  • ·         Last year, we had $900 left over from Summit -- It’s in the escrow account;
  • ·         Should pay Anne something more for all her work;
  • ·         EC members agreed to share this information with their respective groups.
